Women Safe House offers emergency and temporary shelter at an undisclosed location for women and girls fleeing gender-based violence. The emergency shelter provides a trauma-informed supportive environment focused on healing. Survivors can access care coordination, counseling, healthcare, and safety planning.

Legal Services and Litigation

Women Safe House provides legal services to women and girls experiencing gender-based violence, stalking, and human or sex trafficking in Nigeria. This service offers free legal advice, representation, and support to ensure justice for survivors.

Psychosocial Services

We believe that psychosocial services can be instrumental in helping a survivor overcome the trauma experienced in an abusive relationship. Psychosocial services include counseling, support groups and storytelling events which available for survivors of all forms of gender-based violence, sexual assault, stalking, or domestic abuse, whether it occurred recently or in the past. Our programs include SISTERS CIRCLE (Support Group), SAFE SISTERS (teenage girls support group) and FEARLESS (storytelling and trauma recovery retreat). Sessions are offered to women and girls as individuals or as a group to deliver emotional and psychological support to help survivors heal.

Training of Activists/Advocates on GBV

We recognize the importance of enhancing the skills, knowledge, and resources of activists to effectively advocate for gender equality and justice, empowering them to lead impactful campaigns, influence policies, and create sustainable change in their communities.

24-Hour Emergency Helpline

We provide 24/7 support and referrals for survivors in crisis, ensuring they have immediate access to emotional assistance, practical resources, and connections to essential services to address their needs and promote recovery.

Safe Community Engagement

We engage in community education, awareness creation, and mobilization efforts aimed at preventing gender-based violence, addressing its root causes, and equipping individuals and groups with the knowledge and tools needed to respond effectively to incidents of violence.

Employment Support for Survivors

We support survivors by connecting them to job opportunities and providing skill development programs, empowering them to achieve financial independence and rebuild their lives with confidence and self-sufficiency.

Medical Services

We ensure survivors have access to comprehensive medical care, including timely treatment for injuries or health conditions resulting from their experiences. We also provide appropriate referrals to specialized healthcare services for both physical and mental health needs.

Research and Documentation

We carry out research and studies to gather insights that guide the development of effective interventions. We also document cases of gender-based violence to understand its patterns, causes, and impact on individuals and communities.

Policy Advocacy

By advocating for changes in policies and legislation, we help protect the rights of women and girls, ensuring their safety from discrimination, violence, and injustice.

Internship and Mentoring for Students/Graduates

Through mentorship, resources, and training, we empower students and graduates to grow in advocacy and social work, equipping them to influence policy and create positive change in society.
