Who We Are

Women Safe House Sustenance Initiative is a feminist, women-led non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and rehabilitating women and girls from all forms of gender-based violence (GBV) in Nigeria. Since 2016, we have been committed to creating safe spaces where survivors can heal and thrive. Our comprehensive services include shelter, legal aid services, healthcare, and psychosocial support to victims/survivors of domestic-violence, sexual-violence, female genital mutilation (FGM), harmful traditional practices, child marriage, and sex trafficking. We stand as a beacon of hope, ensuring that women and girls of all ages have the resources and support they need to rebuild their lives.

What We Do

WE DEFEND WOMEN’S RIGHTS

Defending women’s rights through legal representation is crucial to promoting justice. We provide free legal services to women and girls experiencing violence in local communities.

WE PROMOTE JUSTICE AND EQUITY

Women and girls experiencing violence need to have justice and equity. We promote justice and equity by challenging patriarchal structures and systems in local communities through our programs to ensure that survivors of violence have trust in the justice system.

WE TRAIN AND EDUCATE

Training and empowerment for feminist activists in local communities is essential to promoting women’s rights. We train feminist activists to promote safe spaces for women, addressing discrimination against women.

WE PROTECT AND EMPOWER

Women and girls who experience violence often need support to restart their lives. We provide a 24-hour women’s shelter that provides short-term housing for women and girls of all ages facing all forms of violence across Nigeria.

Women Safe House Sustenance Initiative offers free, non-judgmental comprehensive crisis services to victims/survivors of gender-based violence. We serve women and girls from Nigeria. Participation in our programs is free and confidential.

shelter (safe house) services

Women Safe House offers emergency and temporary shelter at an undisclosed location for women and girls fleeing gender-based violence. The emergency shelter provides a trauma-informed supportive environment focused on healing. Survivors can access care coordination, counseling, healthcare, and safety planning.

LEGAL SERVICES (LITIGATION)

We understand that navigating through the legal system can be expensive, difficult and confusing. Women Safe House provides legal services to women and girls experiencing gender-based violence including domestic violence, sexual violence, stalking, human or sex trafficking in Nigeria.

COUNSELING

We believe that knowledge of the law is important and that together with an informed community we can eliminate gender-based violence against women and girls. We strive to engage, educate and inspire community leaders and members to join us in this belief. We offer a range of advocacy activities through free trainings, campaigns, presentations and workshops to shift the mindset of community stakeholders, spreading awareness about gender-based violence against women and girls.
